Sunday, January 13th // 12-2:30
In this two hour hands on class you will learn how to can fruit syrups for all kinds of occasions. Whether drizzling over pancakes or waffles or adding to your oatmeal, making homemade wild fermented sodas is our favorite way to use fruit syrups. We’ll also learn how to make a ginger bug and how to use it and our fruit syrups to create a wild fermented soda.
We'll teach you the difference between jelly, jams, chutneys, preserves and conserves. We will go over canning for beginners and we will create a fruit syrup together! Everyone will walk away with the fruit syrup recipe, instructions on how to make a ginger bug, and a jar of fruit syrup we make during the class!
In the class we will go over local agriculture and nutrition, how sustainability directly affects our health and our community, canning supplies, myths, methods and step by step procedures. You'll be emailed a booklet with everything mapped out in detail to help you begin small batches on your own!
The class is held at The Urban Canning Kitchen and taught by founder, Illene Sofranko. Address is 1040 4 St. N in St. Pete!
The class is $65 and there are 14 seats available!
