Saturday, March 3rd from 12-3p
This class is all about donuts and jam! We've partnered up with Alevri Marketplace to bring you this collaborative class you won't want to miss!
We'll teach you the difference between jelly, jams, chutneys, preserves and conserves! We will go over canning for beginners and we will create a Strawberry Jam together! Then we'll go over the basics of beginning a sourdough starter and how to turn that starter into a delicious donut!
Everyone will walk away with lots of food preservation knowledge, a jar of jam we make during the class as well as your sourdough starter and instructions. We'll also get to eat the donuts we fry together!
In the class we will go over local agriculture and nutrition, how sustainability directly affects our health and our community, canning supplies, myths, methods and step by step procedures. You'll be emailed a booklet with everything mapped out in detail to help you begin urban canning small batches on your own!
The class is held at The Urban Canning Kitchen and taught by founder, Illene Sofranko, and Alevri Marketplace founder, Dawn Konofaos. Address is 1040 4 St. N in St. Pete!
